Apokalypsis Magazine

About Apokalypsis

"I have come to ignite a fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled." — Luke 12:49

What This Is

Apokalypsis is an independent dark speculative fiction magazine publishing original short stories at the intersection of cosmic horror, theological mystery, and weird fiction. If you've read Ted Dekker or Frank Peretti and wanted something stranger, darker, and more theologically raw. This is that space. If you finished That Hideous Strength and wanted the next thing, welcome.

Every story here pulls back a veil. Some map the mechanics of spiritual warfare. Some trace the architecture of cosmic horror. Some do both at once. This is not comfort reading. It's revelation.

Joe Powers

Writer

I'm a writer, a U.S. Navy veteran, and the person behind everything published here. Apokalypsis is my attempt to do one thing well: write dark speculative fiction rooted in genuine theological conviction, not the sanitized version, but the kind that takes the Book of Enoch seriously and isn't afraid of what lives in the dark between the stars.

My work sits somewhere between literary horror fiction and christian speculative fiction. I'm also building the Enoch Wars universe in the background: a theological science fiction trilogy set in 11,018 A.D. This magazine is where the shorter, stranger work lives.

Everything published here is conceived, directed, and approved by me. There is no staff. There is no editorial board. There's just this, and I think that's enough for now.

Mission

To create space for fiction that takes revelation seriously: apocalypse, eschatology, spiritual warfare, the end of things, and what comes after.

Fiction as a form of theological inquiry. Weird fiction as a mode of honest wondering. Stories that don't resolve cleanly, because the cosmos doesn't either.

Technology & Transparency

Apokalypsis is built on a clear creative philosophy: the ideas, theology, and vision behind every piece originate with me. I am the architect. I direct the work, shape its theological spine, and make every editorial decision about what gets published and why.

In practice, that means AI tools are part of my production process. Even though AI is part of the process, it's not as a replacement for creative judgment, but as instruments I direct. The theology, worldbuilding, and editorial voice is mine. AI assists in drafting, research, structuring, grammar, and refinement. Audio narration is produced via ElevenLabs. Art is generated via Adobe Firefly. Every piece is conceived, directed, and approved by me before it publishes.
